Futur – Skater Brand Myth
Futur is not your standard skater brand, since 2014 they have been creating unique pieces and an even more unique image. As recently as 2017, there was no sign of Futur on Instagram or clothes on their website. The French, Japanese brand is low-key and is also still not bragging with promotion. That's what makes them special: Futur isn't for Googling, they want you to find them. And when you find them, high quality streetwear pieces await you. Despite the name "Futur", they have a retro vibe and bring it across in the form of graphic prints and oversized silhouettes. They've since had several collabs, including Mephisto, Mountain Research and United Arrows – just to name a few. There has also been a sneaker or two. Futur brings out a collection every season and with luck the lookbook is even accompanied by a skate video. Skaters like Benoit Renaux also like to be seen as Futur models. Futur just does everything right and hits the zeitgeist with image and style.
