Comme des Garcons PLAY – Japanese heart, global streetwear
The history of Comme des Garcons begins in 1969: Stylist Rei Kawakubo founds the brand with the very unjapanese name, which translates to "Just like the boys", in Tokyo and initially sells women's fashion. Gradually, other lines are added, for example the first collection for men in 1984 and Comme des Garcons PLAY in 2002.
The focus of PLAY is not on avantgarde, but on young streetwear. To give Comme des Garcons PLAY a face, New York artist Filip Pagowski designed the famous heart logo. One of the biggest coups is a collab with Converse, in which the classic Chuck Taylor is given the red heart logo treatment.
