Court sneakers - From the clay courts to the streets
Do you remember Andre Agassi? It was not just on the court that the former tennis world number 1 and through and through "badass" was dominant, the same applied when it came to fashion. NIKE kitted Agassi out with with jazzy performance-wear, and not to mention the NIKE Air Tech Challenge court sneaker, which now boasts legendary status. Just a few years previously NIKE had attracted attention with the Wimbledon GTS (the abbreviation was quickly given the nickname "Great Tennis Shoe"), worn by John McEnroe among others. Other brands have also enhanced their performance reputation with court sneakers, such as adidas for example – all we need mention is the Stan Smith, which was released in 1964. The brand with the three stripes had also carried a range of court sneakers in the 70s and 80s, such as the Rod Laver, the Arthur Ashe or the Ivan Lendl and Stefan Edberg signature court sneakers. Also very well known are Reebok's retro court sneakers such as the Phase 1 and of course the Club C. Even "Bumm Bumm Boris" got his own signature court sneaker – the Boris Becker High Top and the Puma Boris Becker Ace!
