Medicom Toys was founded in Japan in 1996 and has since then released a number of classics such as the Kubrick, the Real Action Heroes and, of course, the worldwide beloved Bearbrick. The first Bearbrick, or 'Be@rbrick', was released on May 27, 2001 as a gift for the visitors of the World Character Convention 12 in Tokyo. In its normal 100% size (approx. 7 cm/2,7 inches), the Medicom Toys Bearbrick releases to this day in various themes and styles, for example in 'Basic', in 'Jellybean' (translucent plastic), in 'Pattern', with national flag paintings, as a horror or science fiction version as well as special 'artist' Bearbrick versions, which re designed in collaboration with artists. These artists and designers include H.R. Giger, Karl Lagerfeld, Coco Chanel and KAWS, just to name a few. Medicom Toys also offers the Bearbrick in 400% size and in huge 1000% (approx. 70 cm/27,5 inches).
